At
the age of 9, Tom started to show a
passionate interest in music.
Surprisingly, the first musical
instrument he ever picked up was a
guitar. That may come as a bit of a
surprise to anyone that knows Tom’s
piano music. But the guitar was his
gateway into the world of music and
writing. After having played the
guitar for a couple years, he became
quite accomplished.
One Sunday, Tom’s family took him to
see Superman II. This was the first
time Tom heard an actual orchestra,
and the music of John Williams. He
was so mesmerized by the score, he
came home from the movie, and
without ever having had a piano
lesson, sat down at the piano and
played the theme song by ear.
His "super" talent was definitely
apparent and piano lessons
immediately followed. As Tom
continued to excel in his musical
accomplishments and after having
surpassed the expectations and
abilities of a number of different
music instructors, he finally became
a private student of the acclaimed
James Tannenbaum of the Cleveland
Institute of Music.
After having attended an Indiana
college for two years, Tom decided
to come back to his hometown of
Cleveland, Ohio and started
performing. He quickly got gigs
playing piano at upper scale malls
and restaurants, often performing
songs of Broadway, American
standards, and pop tunes.
In December of 1998, Tom recorded
his first album, “Treasure The
Gift.” It was his first CD of all
original music, and was well
received in the Cleveland area. The
next year, a chance meeting with
piano sensation Jim Brickman led Tom
to move to Los Angeles to further
pursue his musical career.
Once in Los Angeles, Tom began
working for Jim Brickman, arranging
and scoring various projects. Tom’s
arrangements can be heard on a vast
array of Jim’s albums, including
“Beautiful World” and the holiday
album “Joy”. Inspired by the birth
of his niece and nephews, Tom
recorded his second album, “Little
Miracles”, which was his first all
solo piano CD.
Tom has recently hooked up with
Somerset Entertainment, a Canadian
record label, and has released 5
albums for them. The first two,
“Lavender” and “Inner Peace” are Wal
Mart exclusives. The third album,
“Love At First Sight” is available
through amazon.com, and theme parks
throughout the country. His latest
projects, “Twinkle Twinkle Little
Starfish”, under the Fisher Price
label, can be found at Toys R Us and
Babies R Us stores. His newest
release “Peaceful Evening” will be
available soon. Samples of all of
these albums can be found on the
site.
This past summer, Tom performed in
the First Annual Jim Brickman Summer
Music Fest in Cleveland Ohio, and
debuted a CD he’s worked on himself
as a labor of love, called
“Reflections Of Love.” This album is
currently available on iTunes and
CDBaby, as well as “Treasure The
Gift” and “Little Miracles.” Another
exciting endeavor for Tom has been
the release of his music in the
Philippines. His CD “Little
Miracles” was repackaged and
released this past summer, under the
name “Pure Soul-Music For
Relaxation.” Tom is currently
working with Disney on getting a
theme park CD soundtrack off the
ground as well.
In his spare time, Tom enjoys
reading, and is a big video game
junkie. He currently resides in Los
Angeles. Stay tuned to the web site
for all the new original music Tom
is writing.
